Obedience Is Not Optional: Why Keeping YAH’s Commands Still Matters Today

In a world that celebrates freedom, self-expression, and personal truth, obedience sounds like a heavy word. Unpopular. Old school. Even “legalistic.” But the truth is — obedience is the foundation of our relationship with YAHUAH. Without it, our walk is nothing more than empty confession.
We weren’t saved from obedience — we were saved into it.
📜 The Messiah Walked It First
Yahusha Ha’Mashiach (the Messiah) didn’t come to do away with the Torah (the law). He came to live it out — perfectly. He said clearly:
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete.”
— Matthew 5:17 (TS2009)
He wasn’t canceling commandments. He was fulfilling them through perfect obedience — modeling how we should live as children of the Most High. When He said, “If you love Me, keep My commands,” (John 14:15), He meant it. He wasn’t offering a suggestion — He was revealing the mark of true love and discipleship: obedience.
🔥 Obedience Shows Who You Really Serve
In today’s modern faith culture, people often say “I have a personal relationship with God” while openly ignoring His commands. But Scripture says:
“The one who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
— 1 John 2:4 (TS2009)
That’s strong — and it’s meant to be. The Father is not playing games. Obedience is proof of love. It’s not about perfection — it’s about pursuit. It’s not about earning salvation — it’s about walking worthy of the One who gave everything for you.
⚠️ Grace Was Never a Free Pass to Sin
Many have been taught that “we’re under grace,” so obedience to the law no longer matters. But Paul made it clear:
“Do we then nullify the Torah through the belief? Let it not be! On the contrary, we establish the Torah.”
— Romans 3:31 (TS2009)
Grace is what brings us back when we fall. But grace doesn’t erase the standard — it empowers us to meet it. YAH’s instructions are life. He gave them so we could live set-apart, holy, and pleasing to Him.
🌱 Obedience Is the Fruit of a Transformed Heart
When your heart truly belongs to YAHUAH, you want to please Him. You don’t obey out of fear — you obey out of love. Out of gratitude. Out of honor. Out of the understanding that His ways are better than ours.
And as you obey, something shifts. Your life begins to bear fruit. Peace. Clarity. Strength. Alignment. It’s not always easy — but it’s always worth it.
💡 So, What Now?
If you’ve been walking in partial obedience, or unknowingly ignoring YAH’s commands, today is the day to repent and return. Not to religion. Not to man-made rules. But to the ancient path — His Torah, His truth.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just take the first step.
“And by this we know that we know Him: if we guard His commands.”
— 1 John 2:3 (TS2009)
🛑 Obedience isn’t optional. It’s essential.
It’s not legalism. It’s love.
Shalom and strength as you continue to hold on and endure.
You are not alone — the remnant is rising.
