Are You A Born Again Follower of MASHIACH?

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

The classic passage from the Scriptures that answers this question is John 3: 1-21. YAHUSHA HA’MASHIACH is talking to Nicodemus, a prominent Pharisee and member of the Sanhedrin (the ruling body of the Yahudiym). Nicodemus had come to YAHUSHA at night with some questions.

Yahusha answered and said unto him, Amein, Amein, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of Alahiym. Niqodiymon said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Yahusha answered, Amein, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Ruach, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of Alahiym. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Ruach is ruach. Marvel not that I said unto you, Ye must be born again. YOCHANON (JOHN) 3:3-7 את CEPHER

The phrase "born again" literally means "born from above." Nicodemus had a real need. He needed a change of his heart—a spiritual transformation. New birth, being born again, is an act of YAHUAH whereby eternal life is imparted to the person who believes John 1:12, 13 indicates that being "born again" also carries the idea of "becoming children of Alahiym" through trust in the name of YAHUSHA HA’MASHIACH.

The question logically comes, "Why does a person need to be born again?" The apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1 says, “AND you has he quickened, who were dead in transgressions and sins; EPH'SIYM (EPHESIANS) 2:1 את CEPHER To the Romans he wrote, For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of Alahiym; ROMAIYM (ROMANS) 3:23 את CEPHER Sinners are spiritually “dead”; when they receive spiritual life through faith in MASHIACH, the Scriptures likens it to a rebirth. Only those who are born again have their sins forgiven and have a relationship with YAHUAH.

How does that come to be? Ephesians 2:8-9 states, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of Alahiym: Not of works, lest any man should boast. When one is saved, he/she has been born again, spiritually renewed, and is now a child of YAHUAH by right of new birth. Trusting in YAHUSHA HA’MASHIACH, the One who paid the penalty of sin when He died on the cross, is the means to be "born again." Therefore if any man be in Mashiach, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. QORINTIYM SHENIY (2 CORINTHIANS) 5:17 את CEPHER
